"Soundgarden was one of the bands celebrated during this year's induction ceremony. The honor comes more than eight years after the death of lead vocalist Chris Cornell. "I was born and raised, still live in Seattle, so they're our heroes. Everybody from my city, we think that Soundgarden is just foundational and so important to rock and roll," said singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile."
""What is the magic of Bad Company that now makes you members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? "You know, a simple, solid, straightforward, no frills rock and roll," drummer Simon Kirke said. "These artists spend their whole lives, their whole careers, to be here on this stage this night. It's something that they know only few get to be honored, kind of like Cooperstown in baseball and Canton, Ohio, for football. It truly is music's highest honor," John Sykes said."
"The White Stripes were also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, plus Outkast, Chubby Checker, and, among others, Salt-N-Pepa. "As women in hip-hop, a male-dominated field, and in the '80s, this was a little testy. I wasn't sure about this," said Pepa, whose real name is Sandra Denton. "And this is, to make it here, category, OK! I feel great.""
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrated its 2025 induction class in Los Angeles, honoring multiple influential acts. Soundgarden received posthumous recognition more than eight years after Chris Cornell's death, with Seattle artists praising the band's foundational influence. Bad Company gained recognition for straightforward, no-frills rock. The White Stripes, Outkast, Chubby Checker, Salt-N-Pepa and the late Joe Cocker were also inducted. Nathaniel Rateliff noted Joe Cocker's music influenced many artists. Cyndi Lauper joined the hall, acknowledging the legacy of women who came before and expressing support for younger female artists. Inductees and peers framed the honor as music's highest recognition.
