Gwangmyeong contains intangible cultural assets of significant artistic and academic value. Gwangmyeong Nongak, a traditional farmers' music and dance form, has been handed down for over 450 years in Soha-dong and Hakon-dong. Seodo Songs, originating from the northwestern provinces of Hwanghae and Pyeongan, represent a distinct genre of Korean folk music within the city. Both traditions are preserved and transmitted by officially recognized human cultural assets based in Gwangmyeong. Local practices such as Abang-ri Farming Songs and Abang-ri Tug-of-War remain active community traditions, cherished locally despite lacking official cultural-property designation.
