Sony Xperia 1 VIII review
"The new Xperia 1 VIII is still unmistakably a Sony phone with all the quirks that entail, but it has gone through one of the most major redesigns in a while. You are still looking at a "tall and skinny" chocolate bar-style device with an undisturbed display on the front, void of any punch hole."
"Body: 162.0x74.0x8.3mm, 200g; Glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus 2), glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus), aluminum frame; IP65/IP68 dust tight and water resistant (low pressure water jets; immersible up to 1.5m for 30 min)."
"Display: 6.50" LTPO OLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, HDR BT.2020, 1080x2340px resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 396ppi. Chipset: Qualcomm SM8850-AC Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3 nm): Octa-core (2x4.6 GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix L + 6x3.62 GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix M); Adreno 840."
"Rear camera: Wide (main): 48 MP, f/1.9, 24mm, 1/1.35", 1.12µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS; Telephoto: 48 MP, f/2.8, 70mm, 1/1.56", 1.0µm, dual-pixel PDAF (15cm - ∞), OIS, 2.9x optical zoom; Ultra wide angle: 48 MP, f/2.0, 16mm, 1/1.56", 1.0µm, PDAF."
The Xperia 1 VIII is a tall, slim smartphone with an uninterrupted front display and no punch hole. The body measures 162.0x74.0x8.3mm and weighs 200g, using Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front, Gorilla Glass Victus on the back, and an aluminum frame. It is IP65/IP68 dust and water resistant, supporting immersion up to 1.5m for 30 minutes. The 6.50-inch LTPO OLED panel offers 1B colors, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR BT.2020, and a 1080x2340 resolution. Performance comes from a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm) with Adreno 840. It runs Android 16 with up to five major upgrades and includes multiple storage and RAM configurations plus microSDXC via a shared SIM slot. The camera system uses three 48MP rear lenses with optical zoom on the telephoto, and supports 4K HDR video recording with gyro-EIS and OIS.
