UFC Vancouver's Charles Jourdian: Twitter "A Mean Place," But Social Media Has Brought Sponsorships
""I feel like I'm Super Saiyan too, because of it. You're not only fighting for yourself, you're fighting for something bigger,""
""More mature, stronger physically, mentally. It was a very fun world the last year.""
""Sometimes Louis fought, I didn't, but being on the same card is just fun. It's just memories, and we can cut weight together and live this experience together. When we're going to be two old men on our chair talking about it, we'll be very happy that we went to war together.""
""It's fun, and it gets me a lot of sponsors, a lot of fun opportunities. But I'm less Twitter. Twitter was a mean place, it was a dangerous place,""
Charles Jourdain is a first-time father with an eight-month-old and says fatherhood has added physical and mental strength and motivation. His brother Louis earned a UFC spot via the Contender Series but suffered a swollen foot after his win that prevented fighting in Vancouver. Charles wants the brothers to fight on the same UFC card someday, recalling past experiences sharing cards in TKO and the value of cutting weight and creating shared memories. Charles credits an edgier social media presence and a podcast with growing a large Quebec fandom, attracting sponsors and additional opportunities. He called Twitter a mean, dangerous place.
