Gautier used strength to return to striking distance and landed multiple punches to break down Diaz’s high guard, including an uppercut. Diaz survived early without being badly hurt. In round two, Diaz’s lead jab was answered immediately by a massive right hand over the top from Gautier. Diaz was crumpled to the mat and the referee stopped the fight at 1:10. Gautier later expressed interest in fighting Israel Adesanya and improved to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the UFC.
