An afternoon shooting occurred in Tumbler Ridge, a remote community north of Vancouver. The RCMP have ended the emergency alert and do not believe any suspects remain at large or any ongoing threat exists. Tumbler Ridge Secondary and Elementary schools will be closed for the rest of the week, and the district will provide supports and publish locations for those supports on social media. Public safety minister Nina Krieger called the shooting devastating and pledged to deploy every resource to support the investigation and the people of Tumbler Ridge. RCMP north district command credited swift cooperation from the school, first responders, and the community.
