Keir Starmer warned that repeated delays in re-arming cannot continue and said warning signs are emanating from Russia. He called for increased spending, greater delivery, and improved coordination on defense. The Prime Minister is reportedly considering a significant defense-spending increase to reach 3% of GDP by the end of the current Parliament. The MoD announced an £18.3 million SONUS acoustic weapon-detection rollout ahead of schedule that detects gunfire, mortars and explosions without emitting an electronic signature. The MoD also pledged over £400 million for long-range weapons including hypersonic systems via the Stratus program and work on a stealth Storm Shadow replacement, while a UK–Germany long-range program named Deep Previsi moves into a joint study phase.
