Adeleke Adelani, 28, forcibly caused the unlawful termination of his former girlfriend's pregnancy by making her take five abortion pills and locking her in a room at a house in Co Donegal. The incident occurred on St Valentine's Day 2020 after Adelani threatened to beat the woman's nine-week-old foetus out of her if she refused the tablets. The victim told the court that she will always grieve her child and will always remember what was taken from her, and that healing means learning to live with the loss. Adelani received a nine-year prison sentence for causing the unlawful termination.
