Homicides of under-25s fell 50% from last year's 22-year low and teenage homicides reached their lowest level since 2012. Knife crime offences dropped by 1,154 incidents (seven per cent) in the 12 months to August 2025, while hospital admissions of under-25s for knife assaults fell ten per cent in the 12 months to June 2025. Violent crime causing injury fell across all 32 boroughs. ONS figures show Londoners are less likely to be victims of violence with injury than elsewhere in England and Wales, and London’s homicide rate is lower than Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Madrid. The Violence Reduction Unit has delivered diversionary activities and opportunities to more than 450,000 young Londoners and invests in youth work and early intervention.
