Kremlin warns war in Ukraine could 'spread to Moldova' - London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com
"This is a continuation of a rather confrontational line toward our country, an unfriendly line. The current leadership of Moldova, in our view, is making a serious mistake."
"They believe that the policy of building relations with Europe involves complete antagonism toward Russia."
"One state has already made this mistake. It brought nothing good to that one state."
"Today I can say with full confidence that the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and European future of our country are under threat."
The Kremlin warned that the war in Ukraine could spread to Moldova and described Moldova’s current leadership as pursuing an unfriendly, confrontational line toward Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moldova’s pro-European orientation amounts to antagonism toward Russia and called that approach a serious mistake. President Maia Sandu supports the pro-European Action and Solidarity Party, which won over 50% of votes on 28 September. Moldova has applied to join the European Union and is not a NATO member. The EU warned of a Russian disinformation campaign, and Sandu has warned that Moldova’s sovereignty and independence face a threat from Russia.
