"We won't remain silent, we won't forget Palestine."
"We will not get used to this silence, Ozbek said in a video message shared on X. Standing shoulder to shoulder against oppression, we come together on the same side for humanity."
"Police sources and the Anadolu state news agency said about 500,000 people took part in the march."
Hundreds of thousands of people marched through Istanbul, converging on Galata Bridge despite freezing temperatures to demand global pressure on Israel and show solidarity with Palestinians. Protesters waved Palestinian and Turkish flags and rallied under the slogan "We won't remain silent, we won't forget Palestine." More than 400 civil society organisations and several major football clubs joined the mobilisation, making it one of the largest pro-Palestine demonstrations Turkiye has seen since the war began. Participants condemned Israel's assault on Gaza as genocide, rejected claims that a ceasefire brought meaningful relief, and filled the bridge and surrounding streets with speeches and performances.
