An LNER staff member who intervened to protect passengers from a knife attacker is in life-threatening condition in hospital. The incident occurred on a Doncaster to London King's Cross train that stopped in Huntingdon shortly before 20:00 GMT on Saturday. A 32-year-old man is the only suspect in custody and a knife was recovered at the scene. Eleven people received hospital treatment and five had been discharged by Sunday evening. A 35-year-old man initially arrested was released with no further action after being wrongly reported as involved. Specialist detectives are investigating the suspect's background and the events that led up to the attack. Police have increased presence at major rail terminals until at least Tuesday. Motive remains unknown.
