The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) reported that 31 employees were dismissed from Rockstar's UK studios on 30 October. The IWGB organised rallies in Edinburgh and London and characterised the firings as deliberate union-busting aimed at halting efforts to unionise. Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, said those staff were removed for distributing and discussing confidential information, citing company policy violations and denying any link to union activities. Security around Grand Theft Auto VI is heightened because of strong public interest and the game's expected commercial significance. Union leaders criticised management for prioritising anti-union actions over workers.
