He expressed gratitude to Jeff Bezos for support and leadership during his tenure and said the institution could not have a better owner. Lewis said difficult decisions were taken to ensure a sustainable future so The Post can publish high-quality, nonpartisan news to millions of customers each day. The announcement followed layoffs on February 4 that affected about 300 employees and essentially wiped out the sports department.
