CAA's New Hire Has Creator Advice for Journalists, and Journalism Advice for Creators
"Becky is providing a masterclass in social media guidance to our news clients and to our creator clients across the agency, finding creative ways for them to establish, grow, and monetize their brands,"
"We are very much mission-driven: here to future-proof our clients' careers and develop new models for how they can develop and distribute the work they do."
CAA hired Becky Van Dercook, a former CBS News producer who helped manage communications for political influencer Jack Schlossberg, as an agent in its TV-news department. Van Dercook will help established clients broaden online profiles and identify opportunities beyond legacy media through newsletters, podcasts, live events, and social media content. The role includes scouting influencers, man-on-the-street reporters, and news personalities skilled in short-form content. CAA aims to future-proof clients' careers and develop new models for content development, distribution, and monetization as news economics grow more challenging.
