"If we win, it wouldn't be a problem, so I have to accept it that maybe it's a lot, but I think playing every two or three days, we need to [make some changes], but seeing the result, maybe it's too much. I take full responsibility. I think the players that started were exceptional players, but we missed something needed at the highest level. We now have to fight for the next games."
"I have to accept it,"
"We created a lot of chances, but all in all, I think we didn't have that edge to us. The clinical edge, the agg"
Pep Guardiola took full responsibility for Manchester City's 2-0 Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at the Etihad Stadium. He made 10 changes to the starting lineup from the previous weekend's loss to Newcastle and named the club's second-youngest Champions League XI with an average age of 24 years 353 days. City registered 19 shots but failed to score, their second-most in a Champions League game without a goal. The loss was City's first home group-stage defeat in 24 games since September 2018 and marked two home Champions League losses in their last four. Captain John Stones said the team lacked the necessary collective and clinical edge. Guardiola cited player well-being as the reason for rotation and pledged to fight in upcoming matches.
