Teoscar Hernandez Calls Wrigley Field Most Iconic Ballpark In MLB
""On base. It has a lot of history and I used to be a Cubs fan. ... Sammy was my guy. I think everyone in the Dominican tried to imitate his stance, hits and tried to hit homers.""
""The Friendly Confines,""
""On Base With Mookie Betts,""
Wrigley Field opened in 1914 and is the second-oldest Major League ballpark behind Fenway Park. The ballpark is nicknamed "The Friendly Confines" and has hosted many legendary players over the past century. Teoscar Hernández called Wrigley Field the most iconic ballpark and said he used to be a Cubs fan who idolized Sammy Sosa. Sammy Sosa spent 13 of 18 MLB seasons with the Cubs, hit a career-high 66 homers in 1998, and finished with 609 career home runs, ninth all-time. Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto also expressed eagerness to visit or pitch at Wrigley. Hernández played for the Dominican Republic in the 2023 World Baseball Classic but went hitless in five at-bats with two walks and has withdrawn from the Dominican Republic roster for the 2026 WBC to prioritize health.
