The Chicago Cubs are finalizing a trade to acquire pitcher Edward Cabrera from the Miami Marlins. The return to Miami has not been disclosed. Cabrera would bolster a Chicago rotation that includes Matthew Boyd, Jameson Taillon and Shota Imanaga. Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said the organization was in the market to acquire pitching help for both the rotation and the bullpen. Cabrera posted career highs in 2025, going 8-7 with a 3.53 ERA and 150 strikeouts over 137 2/3 innings. Cabrera turns 28 in April and remains under team control through 2028, though injuries have limited him to 89 games across five seasons with the Marlins.
