When I came here, I was completely free of that feeling. But in the last few years, seeing these things happen all the time, my perception has completely changed. "Earlier this year, Mr Galdino was encouraged by his friends to start documenting his experience after noticing crimes taking place around him during his deliveries. Diego Galdino moved to Britain from his native Brazil in 2019 Mr Galdino has since amassed nearly 270,000 followers on Instagram and two million views on TikTok. I started my social media with no expectations, Mr Galdino said. The numbers are not one thing that affects my ego, but it is something that keeps me motivated."
Diego Galdino, a 32-year-old Brazilian delivery driver, films and sprays alleged pickpockets with paint while recording with a GoPro and posting the footage online. Galdino moved to Britain in 2019 and draws on family policing instincts from his native Parana. He reports a perceived rise in opportunistic thefts since the coronavirus pandemic and has gained a large social media following for documenting incidents. Galdino cites frustration over unsolved crimes, including a $10,000 theft, and a lack of visible patrols. He warns that soft laws and limited enforcement could fuel civil unrest.
