Kneecap No Longer Under Investigation Over Glastonbury Performance
Briefly

UK authorities announced that Northern Irish rap trio Kneecap are no longer under criminal investigation regarding their Glastonbury performance in 2025. This decision followed consultations with the Crown Prosecution Service, which revealed insufficient evidence to support a conviction. In June, Kneecap performed a significant set while expressing political opinions, including chants related to Palestine. They criticized the police's initial announcement of the investigation as political intimidation and stated they would continue to fight against such actions. Investigations continue into the performance of another band, Bob Vylan, for similar political expressions.
Kneecap posted a redacted email they received from police on Instagram, stating, "One element of the political policing intimidation attempt is over... every single person who saw our set knew no law was broken."
Kneecap described the investigation drop as political intimidation, stating, "This is political. This is [targeted]. This is state intimidation... you receive a private email to say there's no evidence and no action."
