"Anyone who uses a Chase debit card to pay for their tube travel will qualify for cashback equivalent to one percent of the cost of their travel. The maximum amount of cashback that you can make each month is £15, which totals £180 a year. But if you use an Oyster card with railcard discounts, you'll still save more money that way."
"Emma Strain, customer director at TfL, said: 'Pay as you go with contactless is the most popular way to travel using public transport in London and this commercial partnership with Chase is a great example of how TfL can work with brands. 'We look forward to working with them on a range of customer-focused activations across our network in the coming years.'"
TfL has signed a sponsorship deal with online bank Chase (part of JPMorgan) that will place Chase branding on about 5,000 contactless barriers at London Underground and Elizabeth line stations, replacing Google Pay logos. Chase debit card users will receive 1% cashback on pay-as-you-go tube travel, with a monthly cap of £15 (equivalent to £180 per year). Oyster cards with railcard discounts may still provide greater savings for eligible passengers. Existing Chase benefits currently provide broader first-year cashback, after which a £1,500 monthly pay-in is needed to qualify. The rollout began on 24 November at 12 priority stations.
