Attorney indicted for trying to kill her husband of more than 25 years

"Sara Baker, an Alabama lawyer accused of trying to kill her husband with fentanyl, was recently indicted on charges including conspiracy to commit murder, domestic violence and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Citing court documents, WBRC News reports that Baker allegedly tried to kill her husband three times in September 2025."

"Baker had been caring for her husband, James Doyle Baker, after he had a stroke. The couple has been married for about 30 years. She used to work for the district attorney's office and was in private practice before being suspended by the Alabama Bar in December."

Sara Baker, an Alabama attorney, faces indictment on charges including conspiracy to commit murder, domestic violence, and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. She allegedly attempted to kill her husband, James Doyle Baker, three times in September 2025, using fentanyl. Police arrested her in November. Baker had been caring for her husband following his stroke. She previously worked for the district attorney's office and maintained a private practice before the Alabama Bar suspended her in December. Baker also represented a witness in her criminal complaint who faced charges related to evidence destruction and possession of burglary tools.
