Boca Raton police confirmed that Chad Spodick, 42, died by suicide. The case remains open. Loved ones announced his death on a GoFundMe page, calling the loss sudden and heartbreaking. Family are fundraising to cover funeral and memorial costs, care for his four dogs and one bird, Cosmo, and immediate living expenses for his mother, Felice. The fundraiser had raised almost $29,000 of a $35,000 goal at the time of reporting. An update announced a memorial on Sunday 14 December at The Gardens of Boca Raton - Cemetery and Chapel.
