"Two men have been charged following last year's cyber attack on Transport for London ( TfL) that took down many of its customer-facing website services and internal communications networks. The cyber attack was detected on Sunday 1st September, and TfL blocked access to some of its online and office services while it investigated. Although TfL initially said they didn't expect customer data to have been compromised, they later had to contact around 5,000 customers whose details had been leaked."
"Although the attack didn't affect passenger services, there was a lengthy line-by-line code check of the IT systems, which took a number of online services, such as photocard and travel information off-line for several months. It's been estimated that the attack cost TfL at least £30 million in losses and costs associated with the disruption. Following an investigation by the City of London Police and National Crime Agency, two men, Thalha Jubair (19) from East London, and Owen Flowers (18) from Walsall, were arrested at their home addresses on Tuesday (16th September)."
