He is suspected of founding and leading the group behind the Black Basta ransomware, developing and establishing the malware under several pseudonyms, recruiting members, assigning tasks, participating in ransom negotiations, and managing extortion proceeds to pay group members. The group operated since at least early 2022, using Black Basta and other malware to infiltrate computer systems, steal sensitive data, encrypt systems, and extort cryptocurrency ransoms in exchange for decryption.
