Cybercriminals are using AI-generated deepfake voice bots to call customer-service centers, report order issues, and demand refunds. One large retailer averages more than 1,000 AI-generated calls per day. A recorded call showed a bot with patchy, robotic speech that did not greet or name the customer yet provided a legitimate order number, customer name, and the last four digits of the phone number, prompting an agent to process a refund.
