Residents in Gilroy, Morgan Hill and surrounding South County communities often traveled up to an hour to San Jose for cardiac care. Santa Clara Valley Healthcare now provides cardiology specialties at St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy and the Valley Health Center in Morgan Hill. The expansion delivers critical heart health services to more than 100,000 South County residents. St. Louise is the only hospital in Gilroy and one of four hospitals operated by the county health system. The county purchased St. Louise and O'Connor Hospital in 2019 after Verity Health System's bankruptcy. St. Louise emergency visits can exceed 160 patients per day during peak flu season. New services include electrocardiograms and echocardiograms.
