Germany's 16 federal states agreed to increase the monthly Deutschlandticket price from €58 to €63 beginning January 2026. The ticket continues to allow unlimited local and regional bus and train travel nationwide, excluding long-distance ICE trains. Federal and state governments will each contribute €1.5 billion per year to finance the program through 2030. The decision was described as unanimous by Bavaria's transport minister and characterized as a compromise by Baden-Württemberg's transport minister, who said more federal funding had been hoped for. The mobility association VCD warned the price rise could trigger widespread cancellations.
