The 76th Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft convention will be held in Brno, Czech Republic, from May 22 to 25 as part of the Meeting Brno festival of reconciliation. Czech lawmakers passed a symbolic, non-binding declaration opposing the event, citing historical context and questioning attitudes toward the postwar settlement. The declaration warned against historical revisionism and relativization of Nazi crimes. The debate was boycotted by center-right opposition parties, which accused the governing coalition, including the far-right SPD, of using the issue for political gain. Protests occurred in Brno, including a demonstration organized by the SPD. The SPD claims Sudeten German organizations aim to overturn the Benes decrees that confiscated German property and removed citizenship, a claim rejected by Sudeten German representatives.
