NBA The Run, developed by Play by Play Studios, launches June 9 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. The game centers on smaller 3v3 matches with more over-the-top action rather than heavy simulation. Progression follows a four-round “Knockout Tournament” across courts around the world, culminating in a boss-style matchup on one of four specially designated final courts. Three modes are offered: Knockout Squads, Knockout Solos, and Knockout Friends for custom private tournaments. Players can use fictional characters or choose from a roster of over 30 real NBA players. The Run began in 2024 as The Run: Got Next and was retooled after receiving the official NBA license. Pricing is $30, with a $40 Deluxe Edition adding three unlockable players and in-game currency.
