The final score of the All-Ireland semi-final match between Tipperary and Kilkenny was confirmed to be 4-20 to 0-30, correcting earlier reports of 4-21. The confusion arose from a disputed shot by Noel McGrath, which was ruled wide by an umpire but led to scoreboard errors. Following the game, both managers initially believed Kilkenny was down by three points, influencing their strategy in the final moments. The GAA confirmed the correct score after match officials reviewed the situation.
The confusion centres around a Noel McGrath shot for Tipperary right on the 70-minute mark which was waved wide by one of the umpires at the Hill 16 end.
The stadium scoreboard clicked from 4-20 to 4-21 however and as it happened it was the last Tipperary score of the game.
GAA officials confirmed in the immediate aftermath that the score stood at 4-21 to 0-30 and it was assumed that the McGrath shot counted as a point.
Owens has now indicated that Tipperary's score will be recorded as 4-20 to Kilkenny's 0-30.
