Iran war: US says ready to resume hostilities, Hegseth warns
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the United States has sufficient weapons stockpiles to resume military operations if necessary, as a permanent ceasefire with Iran remains elusive. He added that any agreement reached with Iran during current discussions would be a positive outcome. The Pentagon reported that Israeli and Lebanese military delegations held “productive” talks in Washington DC on Friday, with further talks planned for next week. The talks are complicated because Hezbollah is absent and not participating. In parallel, Israel intensified airstrikes on southern Lebanon, wounding two Lebanese soldiers, while Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned Israel cannot ensure security through a “scorched-earth policy.”
