"Temperatures could climb close to a near record-breaking 20C (68F) in parts of Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, with south-western France approaching 25C on Wednesday. The warmth is being driven by a highly amplified synoptic pattern, featuring a region of low pressure over the Atlantic and strong high pressure over central Europe. The setup will allow exceptionally mild air to spread across much of the continent, with temperatures in some places rising to 10-15C above the seasonal average."
"Across the Atlantic, conditions will be markedly different in the south-eastern US. States including Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolinacould face temperatures 10-15C below normal for this time of year, bringing widespread cold and frosty nights. An early taste of spring will bring unusually warm, mostly dry weather to northern and western Europe, with temperatures near 20C in parts of Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands and south-western France approaching 25C. A highly amplified synoptic pattern — low pressure over the Atlantic and strong high pressure over central Europe — will funnel mild air across the continent, producing temperatures 10–15C above seasonal averages and largely dry conditions that relieve an exceptionally wet February. Portugal and north-western Spain may still see heavy rain. By contrast, the south-eastern US will turn sharply colder as a rapidly intensifying Nor’easter drives temperatures well below normal, prompting widespread cold nights and blizzard warnings along parts of the east coast; in Miami, temperatures could fall to about 7C, cold-stunning iguanas.
