French rail union files strike notice for February holiday getaway weekend
"The union representing train conductors working in the Paris region has filed a strike notice for the weekend - expected to be a busy travel time as Paris schools break up for the February holiday. The strike notice from the Sud-Rail union covers Friday, February 20th to Sunday February 22nd - expected to be a busy weekend in the Paris region as schools begin their two-week February holiday and families depart for a trip away."
"The strike notice for the SNCF mainline trains only affects the Paris region - and is expected to particularly target departures from Gare du Lyon heading for the south east of France and the Alps. The union - the third largest representing train conductors - said the strike has been called in protest at "aggressive management". Schools in France have staggered dates for the February holidays, in order to maximise the peak season in ski resorts."
Sud-Rail has filed a strike notice covering Friday February 20 to Sunday February 22 in the Paris region. The action targets SNCF mainline services, especially departures from Gare du Lyon to the south-east of France and the Alps. The union said the strike was called in protest at "aggressive management". Zone C, which includes Paris and the south-west, starts its two-week February school holiday on Friday, prompting many families to travel for skiing breaks. SNCF bosses expect the strike's impact to be limited. Metro, bus, tram and RER/Transilien services in the Paris region will not be affected.
