Sayville Bait & Tackle closes, reopening as Off the Bay
"Even the ceiling fans are oars. Everything has a detailed touch of boating history. It was oozing character. A big part of the attraction was the old-school Long Island nautical vibes that the previous establishment maintained throughout the space."
"You can take someone out for an engagement party, or you can go two days a week and have a burger and fries, and feel really good about your day. The new concept aims to serve as a versatile venue for various occasions and casual dining experiences."
"We're going to have some fun with fish. The menu will focus on local fluke, swordfish and dry-aged tuna steaks, with an emphasis on serving one of the best fish and chips on Long Island using local haddock."
Sayville Bait & Tackle, a nautical-themed bar beloved by South Shore locals, has closed and will reopen as Off the Bay on March 6. New owner Rob DelGiorno, along with partners Michael Jordan and Shaun Ihne, acquired the space at 220 N. Main St. The new establishment will operate as a family-oriented bar and restaurant specializing in locally caught seafood. The menu features local fluke, swordfish, dry-aged tuna steaks, and premium fish and chips made with local haddock. Additional offerings include items from DelGiorno's other establishments, such as French dip sandwiches, steak, and grilled octopus. The kitchen will remain open until 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends.
