Stephen Curry's 'GOAT': The making of roarball with director Tyree Dillihay
""Do you know what today is? It's premiere day," Dillihay told ESPN."
""They were looking for something that had like an underdog spirit to it," Dillihay said."
""We kind of took [Curry's journey as a basketball player] and infused it in our hero, Will, for the ultimate underdog story for the next generation," Dillihay said."
""You take the sport of basketball and flip it on its head and turn the volume up to 11 and exaggerate it and call it roarball," he said."
Director Tyree Dillihay spent seven and a half years developing the animated basketball film GOAT, with work beginning in September 2018. Sony Pictures produced the project and Stephen Curry serves as executive producer and a voice in the film. The story follows a small goat named Will, voiced by Caleb McLaughlin, who dreams of playing in the big leagues despite being overlooked. The film transforms basketball into an exaggerated sport called "roarball," drawing inspiration from Curry's impact as a smaller guard and consulting Curry to make game scenes feel authentic. The cast includes notable NBA and WNBA players, and the film premieres in theaters Friday.
