Diane Keaton died of pneumonia on October 11 at age 79. Her family expressed deep gratitude for the extraordinary messages of love and support and asked that donations be made in her memory to causes she believed in, including local food banks and animal shelters. Keaton became an enduring film icon after her Oscar-winning role in 1977's Annie Hall and delivered notable performances in The Godfather films, Reds, Marvin's Room, Something's Gotta Give, Father of the Bride and The First Wives Club. Her health declined very suddenly over recent months, and her death surprised colleagues and fans. She is survived by two sisters and two adopted children.
