Five "technical excellence colleges" will be established, with 2.5m in funding for pilot schemes in Cheshire, Lincolnshire and Pembrokeshire. A programme will match veterans with roles in solar, wind and nuclear, while up to 20m will support bespoke training for oil and gas workers. Tailored schemes will target ex-offenders, school leavers and the unemployed. Sizewell C construction requires 10,000 extra jobs. Energy bills rose by 2% under Ofgem's latest price cap, and a pledge remains to reduce bills by 300 by 2030.
