Ed Miliband would let a turbine farm destroy Bronte country. We need net zero, but at what cost? | Simon Jenkins
Briefly

Yorkshire's Wuthering Heights features a dramatic landscape of the Pennines and streams that mirror the intense romance within. This natural beauty is threatened by the proposed Calderdale Energy Park, which would feature 41 wind turbines, each 200m tall. Such developments would transform the Pennine Way into an industrial area, altering its scenic value substantially. Despite public opposition, including a petition with 15,000 signatures, the energy secretary supports this project, framing detractors as out of touch with renewable energy needs in Britain.
The glorious Pennine Way, which traverses the area, would be reduced to a stroll through an industrial park visible for miles around, one of roads, depots and servicing trucks.
Ed Miliband apparently wants to do so, with the largest onshore windfarm in England, the Calderdale Energy Park, regarding this unique landscape as the perfect spot for 41 giant wind turbines.
