One arrested, another on the run after chase through East Bay, officials say
"The CHP initiated a chase of the Lexus, which was occupied by a man and woman, across several interstates. The duo traversed across parts of Interstate Highways 880, 238 and 680, according to the CHP. Video of the chase shared by KTVU appeared to show the driver of the vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic during the pursuit to avoid an officer."
"KTVU also reported the driver appeared to travel through areas near Oakland, Hayward, Dublin, Pleasanton, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and San Ramon during the chase. A Contra Costa Sheriff's helicopter reportedly relieved a CHP helicopter halfway through the chase because it had to refuel mid-pursuit. The suspects, who authorities have not yet identified, reportedly fled to San Ramon, before getting out of the vehicle and trying to escape on foot."
Just after 4 p.m. in Oakland, CHP identified a gold Lexus as suspicious by linking it to a reported theft. Officers pursued the Lexus across interstates 880, 238 and 680 as it traveled near Oakland, Hayward, Dublin, Pleasanton, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and San Ramon. Video footage showed the driver swerving into oncoming traffic to evade police. A Contra Costa Sheriff's helicopter took over aerial support when a CHP helicopter needed refueling. The vehicle occupants fled to San Ramon; officers arrested the woman while the male passenger escaped on foot. Spike strips were deployed but failed to stop the suspects. The investigation remains open.
