YouTube Search Gets Its Own AI Overviews, But Access Is Limited
Briefly

YouTube has introduced a new AI-enhanced video carousel feature for Premium subscribers, focusing on searches related to shopping, travel, and activities. This carousel, located in a new Highlights tab, displays clips alongside AI-generated headlines and summaries. Users can swipe through video thumbnails and view clips in sequence. While currently available in the U.S., the feature may not apply to every search query. Additionally, YouTube is testing a conversational AI tool for wider audiences, allowing users to interact and ask questions related to videos.
YouTube Premium subscribers will now see a video carousel in search results for shopping, travel, or things to do in a particular place.
The curated carousel appears in the Highlights tab at the top of search results, similar to AI Overviews in Google Search.
YouTube warns it may not work for each shopping, travel, or things-to-do query.
YouTube is also expanding the test of its 'conversational AI tool' to non-Premium users in the US.
