StorageCafe produced a ranking of the best "live-work-play" U.S. destinations using four factors: lifestyle; digital readiness and work infrastructure; safety and health; and affordability. The ranking relied on public data sources including census data, WalkScore ratings, NOAA weather information, and FBI safety statistics. A total of 169 major U.S. cities were evaluated to determine how well they cater to digital nomads and to create a shortlist of ideal destinations. Springfield, Missouri emerged as the most affordable option, with average total monthly expenses of $2,299 and one-bedroom rents at $925.
