"After the 2024 season, Pete became one of the more important offensive tackles in the transfer portal. With Kentucky needing a starting left tackle, they identified Pete as a 6-foot-8, 320-pound monster with 31 career left-tackle starts, and quickly got him into campus. He started all 12 games at left tackle for Kentucky, recording a team-high 35 knockdown blocks and 100 block"
Shiyazh Pete redshirted his first college year at New Mexico State and adjusted to FBS football without game appearances. He began playing in his second year, starting the final nine games at left tackle and starting in the Quick Lane Bowl. He helped New Mexico State finish with three straight 200-yard rushing games and a program-record 25 touchdowns. His third year became a breakout season as he started all 15 games at left tackle, supporting a 10-5 record, a Conference USA Championship Game appearance, and an Isleta New Mexico Bowl appearance. He earned First Team All-Conference USA honors and was credited with helping pace a top rushing attack. In 2024, injury limited him to missing the first six games, then he started the final six, allowing five quarterback pressures on 193 pass-blocking plays. Afterward, Kentucky added him through the transfer portal, and he started all 12 games at left tackle, producing team-high knockdown blocks.
