He's No. 1! Caleb Williams is NFC North's Best Quarterback
"Now that the dust has settled on the 2025 NFL season, NFL Media's Nick Shook ranked all 63 quarterbacks who started at least one game last year based on how they played during the regular season *AND* playoffs. Shook's list of quarterbacks who made at least one (1) start is a doozy and features seven different tiers. However, one name stands out (to me) above the rest - and it is Caleb Williams."
"Caleb Williams steadily improved throughout his first season under Ben Johnson and produced some incredible heroics in the postseason, powering an unbelievable comeback over the Packers on Wild Card Weekend and nearly doing the same against the Rams in the Divisional Round. Perhaps I'm a sucker for recency and hyperbole, but by the end of this season, Williams is among the quarterbacks I think of first when I ask the question: Who defined the 2025 season?"
"To give Caleb Williams' ranking some additional perspective, he finished the 2024 season ranked 28th. Going from being ranked No. 28 to No. 8 in one season is a remarkable jump. There is so much to discuss about Williams and his future, but we should stop and acknowledge (and appreciate) his year-to-year growth now that we are fully entrenched in the offseason."
All 63 quarterbacks who started at least one game in 2025 were ranked based on regular-season and playoff performance. Caleb Williams finished among the top 10 quarterbacks and was the highest-ranked quarterback in the NFC North. Williams showed steady improvement in his first season under Ben Johnson and produced postseason heroics, including a comeback over the Packers and a near-comeback against the Rams. Williams rose from a No. 28 ranking in 2024 to No. 8 in 2025, a remarkable single-season jump. Rankings for many other notable quarterbacks provide additional context for Williams' year-to-year growth.
