Wexford gym members take part in cancer fitness challenge and smash fundraising target
The South East Radiotherapy Trust (SERT) was established in 2005 to provide essential transport for cancer patients attending the UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre in Waterford and Cork University Hospital. A Wexford gym team travelled to Dublin to compete in the Battle Cancer Fitness Challenge at the RDS, raising nearly three times the initial fundraising target of €5,000 for two charities. The 2026 event featured a 90-minute fitness challenge with teams of four completing three zones and nine stations, alternating five minutes of maximum repetitions with four minutes of rest. Barbelle Health Gym nominated SERT and The Hope Centre, Enniscorthy. A cheque for €7,452.50 was presented to SERT coordinators, supporting a service run by volunteers and funded through fundraising.
