Kylie Minogue revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer again in early 2021, after successful breast cancer treatment in 2005. She kept the second diagnosis private and said she struggled to find the right time to announce it publicly, describing herself as a “shell of a person” during treatment. She said she did not feel obliged to tell the world and wanted to share what happened so she could let it go. She linked her experience to her 2023 song “Story,” which references keeping a secret and turning a page. She said the diagnosis followed a routine checkup and urged people to attend checkups for early detection.
