Jessie J announces she is cancer free: 'I sobbed for hours'
Jessie J announced that she is cancer free after her most recent yearly check-up. She shared the news in an Instagram video on 21 May, describing how she cried for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year. In the video, she appeared in a hospital gown with a cannula in her arm while waiting for an MRI. She said she was nervous, explained that she was told there would be no contrast but suspected otherwise, and described the discomfort of having to lie on her front with arms raised for a breast MRI. She also referenced her reconstructed breasts following a mastectomy and asked for good vibes. Friends and celebrities sent supportive messages after the update.
"“Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding onto the word 'early',” she said. “I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard.” She continued: “I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book.”"
