Daily pill can double survival time for world's deadliest cancer, trial shows
A clinical trial of 500 patients with spread pancreatic cancer found daraxonrasib doubled survival time. Patients taking the pill lived an average of 13.2 months. Patients receiving chemotherapy lived about 6.6 to 6.7 months. The pill produced fewer side effects than chemotherapy. Results were presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s annual meeting in Chicago. Experts called the findings unprecedented and a gamechanger, with one describing it as a grand slam.
