A 17-year-old from Waterloo was charged after shootings at two synagogues in Toronto and Vaughan in early March. York Regional Police said the teen was charged with two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and two counts of weapons trafficking. Police said he was taken into custody with help from Waterloo police. On March 6, gunshots were reported near Clark Avenue W. and York Hill Boulevard, and officers found the front doors of the Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto synagogue damaged by gunfire, with two people inside not injured. On March 7, gunshots were reported near Bathurst Street and Glencairn Avenue, and officers found the front entrance of Shaarei Shomayim synagogue damaged, with no one inside and no injuries.
"A 17-year-old is facing several charges in connection to shootings at two synagogues in Toronto and Vaughan that happened in early March, police say. He is the second person charged in relation to the shootings. Police arrested and charged an 18-year-old man earlier this month."
