San Jose Police Arrest Suspect on Attempted Murder Charge
"The officers located the victims and the vehicle they fled in, which was riddled with bullet holes. The investigation revealed that the two adult victims, one male and one female, were in an argument with the adult male suspect when he produced a firearm and shot at the victims multiple times. The adult male victim was shot at least once, and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The adult female victim was fortunately not injured."
"The police department's Special Operations Unit responded to the scene and utilized a chemical agent to persuade the suspect to safely surrender, police said. After arresting Alvarez last week, police located a loaded privately made firearm, ammunition, a 3-D printer used to manufacture firearms and various narcotics. Alvarez was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for various crimes including attempted murder, as well as firearm and narcotics-related crimes."
San Jose Police arrested 38-year-old Michael Alvarez after he barricaded himself in a residence near Willow Street and Minnesota Avenue while officers attempted to serve arrest and search warrants related to a September shooting. The Special Operations Unit used a chemical agent to persuade Alvarez to surrender. Detectives identified Alvarez in the Sept. 2 assault with a deadly weapon in the 400 block of Minnesota Avenue, where spent shell casings and a vehicle riddled with bullet holes were found. One adult male was shot and hospitalized; a female victim was uninjured. Police recovered a loaded privately made firearm, ammunition, a 3-D printer and various narcotics.
